How I keep sane as a solopreneur writer who works from home
You can relate if you have a corporate job that lets you work from anywhere.
Entrepreneurship is difficult & messy. You cannot afford to take time off, that you really need to take. I use the word ‘need’ because entrepreneurship is a lonely journey. One ends up working long hours cut off from much of humanity.
How thoughts & fears tend to interrupt the self from being a successful entrepreneur
I have got around the loneliness by indulging in:
Running
Gardening
Connecting with other writers &
Swimming
75% of this I do during my time outside work.
With my running pals
Getting on with my monthly recap. Some subscribers have asked me why I do this. I like to write a recap for every month because several readers have told me that life happens & they miss the Tuesday edition of Ethical Badass Tales. The recap helps them best.
April has been a good month. I’ve collaborated with other writers & got my first sponsorship. Ethical Badass Tales had good readership & engagement this month.
Moving on to the month’s newsletter editions.
April 11th- How Popular Culture Feeds The Cheeky Charm Of Brazen Mean Girls
Readers loved this piece. I had a lot of fun writing it too. It is a joyous read on the face of it. But if you dig deeper down the plastic facade of mean girls it will push you to question what we as a society choose to popularize.
April 18th- Don’t Hate 13-Year-Old Me For Envying Fat People
I consider this one my successful post of the month because it received several views from the Substack network.
Thirteen-year-old girls see the world in black & white. And school is the place where they learn to turn against each other rather than stand up for each other.
Because anyone who has made it a point to study hate culture would know that it makes targets turn on those who had little to do with what was happening to them rather than stand up to those who do the shaming.
Read "Don’t Hate 13-Year-Old Me For Envying Fat People"
It is a thought provoking read that addresses thin shaming, fat shaming & everything in between.
April 25th- The Real Reason People Want to Knock You Down a Peg
What is this suicidal mistake that makes you a target of insecure people? Read The Real Reason People Want to Knock You Down a Peg to know.
And as always thank you for being here with me on the journey.
